Original classic style pop-rock with great melodies and colorful guitar. Elements of Neil Young, Echo & the Bunnymen, Beatles, and the Lemonheads.
Frank Tribes is a songwriter/performer based in Chicago. For several years prior to going solo in 2001, he was a member of Garden Bower, a band that regularly performed in Chicago and steadily released their music. In 2002 he released his debut self-titled album, followed by his well-received 2nd album, "By All Means," released in 2004.
The "Blade E.P." is his newest installment. It was started in the spring of 2005 when Frank (vocals and guitars), longtime members Jerry King (drums) and Jason La Fleur (bass guitar) went into Ellis Clark's Angel City Studio to cut five new songs. The sessions went so well that Frank included Ellis in the production of the recordings. Soon Ellis was adding back up vocals, piano & keys besides engineering. Fuelled by this, Frank stepped up his guitar playing and arrangement ideas. The growth in his songwriting was now accentuated by an upgraded & orchestrated production.
Influences like the Beatles, Echo & the Bunnymen, David Bowie, Neil Young, Hank Williams, Caetano Veloso, and even the Italian pop music of Frank's parents are reflected in the "Blade E.P." Insightful lyrics, strong melodies and a time tested style make this artist's recording something special to hear.
His band has recently performed at such Chicago venues as House of Blues and the Cubby Bear.
